'Here Puss' for solo Tenor Trombone "When I first heard the flutter tonguing sound from a trombone I thought that it sounded very similar to the purr of a cat. This sparked of an idea for me to compose a piece about my two cats Molly and Mindy. Over the years I have become fully aware of the common sounds produced by cats such as purring, hissing and growling. These are the sounds that I have experimented within the music. For the most part of the piece the performer takes on the role as the cat. The music material is based on the theme of the introduction to the cat in Prokofievs' 'Peter and the Wolf'. The theme is stated within a different rhythmic context and all the music material is based on this but displayed in a quasi-jazz style fused together with effects.
