The
Anglia Contemporary and Experimental Music Society
is a new organisation promoting the production, rehearsal and performance of
original contemporary and experimental scores. By uniting composers, performers,
conductors, directors, concert managers, theatrical personell, music therapists
- in fact ANYBODY with similar interests in contemporary music, we aim to provide plenty of opportunity
for participation in a number of different events including concerts, workshops, recording sessions
and excursions.
Membership of ACEMS is just £2 for a year (£1 for students) and is usually paid on first involvement
in an ACEMS activity. This way we hope to ensure maximum value for our members. The treasury will inform members by post when fees are due, providing
simple instructions for payment by cheque.
Where are ACEMS based?
We are based in the city of Cambridge with a large proportion of our activity currently based around the music department and facilities at Anglia Polytechnic University. We are lucky enough to have links to various other societies in the region, all of which can be found in our links section.
As the society continues to grow we will be organising concerts and events at venues all over the country.
ACEMS and where you live.
Please do not be put off if you do not live near East Anglia. We have been delighted to start working with members all over the country, including London, West Sussex and North Yorkshire, as well as two international members from the United States and Austria. The wider the network, the more we can achieve.
Who can join ACEMS?
Anyone who is interested in getting involved in any way with contemporary or experimental music should find the society both useful and enjoyable. We are currently looking for
· Performers - singers, instrumentalists, dancers
· Composers
· Conductors
· Anyone interested in concert management
· Sound engineers
· Theatrical personell
· Music Therapists
· Film producers/directors (especially requiring soundtrack).
With regard to performance previous experience of contemporary music is not essential but it is recommended that instrumentalists are of at least Grade 5 standard.
Commitments as a member.
Once members have paid subscription fees (£2 for a year), they may participate as little or as often as they wish. If we do not hear from members for a while, we will suggest events that suit their interests. For any further information please do not hesitate to email us using any of the contact links.
