Join ACEMS

Following the launch of the ACEMS presents concert series, the society is preparing to continue its success throughout the coming year with a challenging and diverse range of events.

We are currently applying for funding to secure the following projects:

ACEMS Presents....

This concert series will feature a further four concerts over the next 16 months including programmes of new music at the BMIC and contemporary sacred music at Chelmsford Cathedral.

010

The 'Off...ON...Off' series will be aimed more specifically at the performance of experimental music and will use alternative and more intimate venues to stage its concerts. The first of these is due to take place in April 2003.

Workshop series

ACEMS also plans to hold a number of workshops over the coming year and will give members the opportunity to work with professional musicians specialising in areas such as composition and improvisation.

Music therapy and education:

We are committed to making contemporary & experimental music as accessible to all members of the community as possible. To fulfil part of this commitment, we will hold a number of our own workshops in schools, hospitals and centres for adults and children with disabilities throughout the year. We are also planning to set up a project that will allow participation in certain workshops and groups sessions via the internet. Selected concerts from both series will also be broadcast over the internet.

Open recording sessions

At various intervals, we will hold sessions to give members the opportunity to have their work recorded and then transferred to a CD, Minidisc or DAT.

Open call for scores

As well as asking for new works to include in our concert programmes, once every year we will submit members' scores to an appointed reading panel for appraisal. As well as receiving constructive criticism and advice, selected works will then be performed and recorded at an end of season concert.
